Playing In The Band XVIII
25. 27. Mai 2017 MALZHAUS Plauen, Sachsen
After the involuntary PITB break to Ascension Day 2016, for which we finally have been rewarded very well during this year's Summer-Special, I have returned to the pleasure of organizing very special music events. This can be seen in the fact that the program for the next PITB in the Malzhaus Plauen already stood at the beginning of October 2016. And now is the time to get everything on track, so that you can get it. So here is our plan for the PITB to become mature:
Thursday May 25th
from 9.30 pm: Diff (DK), Benny Wenzel (GER)
Friday May 26th
from 8 pm: Pelagic Zone, Mars Mushrooms und Benny Wenzel (all GER)
Saturday, May 27th
from 8pm: Pelagic Zone, Benny Wenzel, Diff
As always, the event starts on Thursday with the Grateful Dead-Tribute band, and this time we once again invited Diff
from Denmark after they enchanted us during the Summer Special 2014.
A ten years waiting period for those guys from the far north is simply too much! In 2004 they were guests in the Malzhaus, and they are very happy and looking forward to play for us again! As in tradition, Diff
will also be closing our small festival on Saturday.
But what happens in between? To be honest, we can only guess without really knowing it! But what we can tell you is who else we are expecting, starting with the youngest participant:
All those who have been at the Summer-Special in Schneidenbach know him already, Benny Wenzel
from Hamburg. We were allowed to make his acquaintance, because he had been part of Strange Country replacing Ollie Samland in August, and you can’t imagine how he did it! As we heard that this jack of all trades also performed own headline gigs in Hamburg, and we couldn’t help but inviting him to Plauen.
The guys from Pelagic Zone
also from Hamburg, one of the most accomplished European jam bands, actually should have been in Schneidbach this year, but had to cancel due to schedule reasons. But it was clear for us that we will do something to catch that up for Plauen in 2017. In September of this year, they presented their brand-new live double LP in Hamburg during a release party, with selected pieces from different concerts, a gem, as we find. And the total of over eight hours of music of that event really had it all. But they did not make these eight hours alone; they invited their friends, the Mars Mushrooms
from Ansbach. We admit, the plan attracted us very much to bring Marslagic Shroomzone
once to the venerable Malzhaus stage, and of course this September experience strengthened us in our plan. We are very pleased that we have the commitments of all the participants mentioned for the PITB XVIII
This brings us back to the time schedule. This time we decided to only give the available time frame for the musicians, the rest may be decided by them. Our desire would be to hear from Benny Wenzel on each of the three days. And so we are really looking forward to what will happen on the Malzhaus stage at the end of May next year!
At this point, our annual call to all of you, whether the PITB
is meaning anything to you or not: go to the malt house at the Ascension weekend; celebrate with us again with three nights of wonderful music!
Information about the bands and artists involved this time can be found on the following websites:
The Malzhaus on the Internet: www.malzhaus.de
•Pelagic Zone: www.pelagiczone.net
• Mars Mushrooms: www.marsmushrooms.de
Everything else is as usual: the small parking lot will be given again; you may make music acoustically in the beer garden or in the malt house during the day, and just have a good time.
The breakfast is available from 9 am in the morning (with pre-booked season tickets with B & B already included). You can spend the night in a specially prepared dormitory room of the malt house or on the roofed open-air stage (sleeping bag + sleeping mat). Pitches for mobile homes are directly at the malt house. Unfortunately the campsite behind the malt house has place for 5 tents, only. Please make a reservation with Beate and Gerd! If you want to get yourself a room, you can do this through the tourist information office in Plauen Town Hall, phone: 03741-2911027.
The Malzhaus is located on the outskirts of the city centre. From the upper train station there are tram connections. Plauen is conveniently located on the A72 motorway and not far from the A9 (Berlin-Nuremberg), exit Schleiz.
